When putting together or furnishing a home, there is a lot of attention that goes into the living room, the bedroom, and the kitchen. In most instances the most important room of the entire house: your bathroom, will be forgotten. It is even worse when you have to deal with the lack of space in the bathroom. It is safe to say that most of the average homes have a small bathroom. As much as you might want to have a bigger one, the cost of doing this and the impact it would have on your home make it almost impossible. So, how do you furnish your itty-bitty bathroom for functionality and space?
Frame your mirror
Well, this will not make the mirror any more functional, but it will give your bathroom a focal point and make it look larger than it is. You can use molding to do the framing and then use any colors that you might find preferable to give the room more depth and contrast. The best thing about this is the fact that it is quite simple to do but changes the whole appeal of the bathroom. It is one of the simple things that you should make sure you offer to your bathroom.
Hang spice racks
Next time you go to the store, make sure that you jump on some spice racks. You see how handy they are in the kitchen? They will be just as handy in the bathroom. They will help to declutter the sink space and make the room more orderly. Simply hang them on the walls and use them to organize your hair products, lotions, and other essentials. To make it easier to find stuff. You can group the items and have spice racks for each of them. The best thing about these racks is that they are small. SO you don’t have to worry about watching your head to avoid being hit.
Throw out the towel rod
Here is another great idea. No one wants to have to share their towel. But if you have a shared bathroom, and that bathroom has a towel rod, you’re more or less doing the same thing. You hang the towels on the same rod, and they are always in contact. Which makes transferring of dead skin and other bacteria pretty easy. For a more functional and safer bathroom, you can have coat hooks instead. You can use more molding to make this area more dramatic as well. The coat hooks will provide more space for you to hang your towels. And guess what? They will not be in contact with each other, and you can hang even more towels.
While these three will make the greatest difference to your small bathroom, there are other tips and tricks that you could use that would make it much easier for you to use the bathroom even with other people. One of them would be having a magnetic strip on one of the walls. This presents a great place for you store your bobby pins. You don’t have to keep losing and finding them everywhere in the house. You can also use the strip to attach other things that you usually lose easily.
